Membership

Prospective Member

WiLA members extend membership by direct invitation, through courting the club, or through an open invitation call. The application period is January 1st to March 1st of each year. Pledge selections are made by March 15th; pledging begins April 1st.

Membership is available to Atlanta-area (including surrounding cities and southern states in proximity to Georgia or the southern seaboard) Leather identified women, transwomen, and women who are curious about various practices of Leather and BDSM, regardless of race, sexuality, or lifestyle identity/dynamic, and who supports the WiLA mission. Your primary identity is as a woman, even with masculine pronouns or gender fluidity; we include LGBTQ women and support women.

General Application Eligibility

  • Age requirement is 21 years of age and older.
  • Must be sponsored by a Full WiLA member in good standing
  • Must not have had their WiLA or other Leather club membership suspended, revoked, or terminated in the past twelve (12) months
  • Be in good standing in the leather/kink community
  • Submit an application, one-page petition, and the sponsor’s name between January 1st and March 1st
  • Submit to an interview
  • Pay annual dues at pledge selection
  • complete pledge directives for a Full or Associate member by the required deadline

Notice: Applying does not guarantee pledge acceptance or final membership. Applications and petitions will be evaluated by WiLA members and discussed with the sponsor. Prospects will be contacted by March 15th if they have been selected as a pledge.

The pledging process begins each April 1st and concludes after four months OR at the discretion of the Pledge Master within the same year. Patches are given to those who complete pledging at the October Patch Ceremony.

Incomplete Pledging

Incompletion of the pledge process will result in no patch being granted. A prospective member may reapply to pledge the following calendar year. Yet, a second failure will result in a prospective member waiting for a full calendar year to pass before reapplying again. An interview must be scheduled with the Pledge Master, Sergeant-at-Arms, the Founding/Co-founding Members, and one (1) Full Member-at-large for a third application approval.


Summary of Membership Pledging Requirements

Full Member: Attends a minimum of six (6) meetings, which may include but are not limited to:

    • Pledge meetings/orientations (required)
    • Business meetings (Annual business meeting is mandatory)
    • Club hosted community events, socials, and Zoom call
    • Group community service or service projects
    • Annual club gathering
    • Atlanta Annex of the Carter/Johnson Library events
    • Pays annual dues of $40

Associate Member: Attends a minimum of three (3) meetings, which may include but are not limited to:

    • Pledge meetings/orientations (required)
    • Business meetings (Annual business meeting is mandatory)
    • Club hosted community events, socials, and Zoom calls
    • Group community service or service projects
    • Annual club gathering
    • Atlanta Annex of the Carter/Johnson Library events
    • Pays annual dues of $20

COVID and Virtual Response: WiLA is still interested in expanding its outreach in the southeast and northeast regions. Until further notice, requirements (pledging and attendance) will be fulfilled virtually, hybrid, and in-person.
